YYC Growers & Distributors Crowdfunding Campaign

Posted Tuesday, Jul 19, 2016

YYC Growers is an alliance of urban and rural farmers from in and around the Calgary area. The collective began in 2013 as a way of providing Calgary's urban farmers with a way to pool efforts and resources.

We've proudly carried YYC Growers at the store for a few years now, and they've never failed to provide us with a variety of high quality produce. Most of their farmers use organic seeds, and all their veggies are spray-free and naturally grown.

There are nearly 20 full and part-time farmers that make up the YYC Growers collective. Beyond supplying Sunnyside Natural Market, they also provide many restaurants throughout the city, as well as offer their own CSA.

The demand for sustainable local food keeps growing, and YYC Growers is eager to keep up. Unfortunately, their current cooler just isn't big enough to hold the large amounts of produce coming in. They're looking for a new cooler, and they need your help.

In order to raise the $25,000 needed for a new cooler, YYC Growers has started a crowdfunding campaign here. You can donate as much or as little as you like. There are plenty of perks to donating, including gifts from many incredible businesses around town. A $65 contribution gets you 25% off your next visit to Sunnyside Natural Market!

YYC Growers has a vision of growing the local food movement, and providing sustainably grown food for every Calgary plate. This is certainly a goal we can get behind.

Visit here to make a donation, and remember, you can always support YYC Growers by visiting our produce counter and picking up some of the many home-grown veggies they deliver every week!
