Kris Vester - Blue Mountain Biodynamic Farm

Our relationship with Blue Mountain Biodynamic Farm goes back over a decade. It is a highly diversified, 160 acre farm near Carstairs. Henry and Erika Vester moved out to the land in 1977 with their 7 children and an 8th child was born in 1980 in their home. In 1999, son Kris instigated the transition process to certify the farm as organic. The farm land and crops became certified organic in 2001 and in 2010  Demeter Canada granted Biodynamic accreditation for the herb and vegetable production on the farm. At present, the farm is primarily operated by Kris, with the help of his wife Tamara and also with the help of SOIL apprentices, WWOOFers and other workers. 

Kris began selling his produce to Sunnyside Natural Market in the summer of 2000 and continues to have a great working relationship with us, including marrying our produce manager in 2011! Sunnyside Market is the only organic food retailer in Calgary that carries Blue Mountain Biodynamic Farms products.
